Outfitpost – Out for dinner

23 May

Hi there!

Today I was lucky enough to have a day off from work:so I visited the stocksales from Protest and Lila Grace, basked a bit (okay, to be honest : a LOT) in the sun and had a lovely dinner with my boyfriend, mother and stepfamily at Karveel in Antwerp. Good times!

With the high temperatures I opted for a Grecian inspired short black  blue dress from ASOS teamed up with a green blazer from Forever 21 and studded grey leather heels (Rieker). The woven blue leather clutch is from Pieces Accessories.

The nailpolish is YSL – Les Fauves in black & gold

Do you like the outfit?

Ray-Ban goes colour-pop

22 May

Dear readers,

Ray-Ban was the brand that created my all-time favourite sunnies, the Aviator.  Many maaaany brands have attempted to copy the look and especially good quality Ray-ban stands for. None of them has in my opinion succeeded doing so yet.

So I was very happy to hear that Ray-ban has decided to introduce 3 new colours (pink, blue, green) of lenses for their classics, like the Wayfarer, Aviator or Meteor.

Below some of my favourite Ray-Ban models! Which one is your favourite?I totally want the pink Aviator glasses! <3

The Aviator

The Wayfarer (Folding)

PS1 – I love you

21 May

Dear readers,

Sometimes in life, you have to be quick if you want to get your ‘holy grail’ , as my happy story below will prove.

Last Tuesday I was havig a really bad day at the office, I guess the bad weather just lasted too long and my brain needed some sunshine… I’m not kidding, I was almost at my breaking point and for no evident reason. Was not in a fight with anyone, it was not that time of the month… Really weird!

Suddenly, I received a text message from my mother that she had spotted a beautiful Proenza Schouler PS1 medium bag for a very reasonable price… As I realised that this baby would be snapped up in a heartbeat by someone else if I hesitated for even a second, I replied ‘BUY IT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOW’ ! After that I had to wait for a few minutes (which felt like hours) before she came back to me and said the deal was settled! Victory dances around the office and returning home with a very HAPPY face after the good news, obviously!

The next day already the new PS1 was already in my arms, as I have dreamt of for a veeeeeery long time… You see, sometimes dreams DO come true, you just have to wait for the exact right moment!

So from now on, my Balenciaga bags have to share the cupboard with the lovely green PS1 you see her in the picture.

Very important extra:  I want to thank my lovely fellow blogger Ninette -who happens to be my mother as well- for raising me with her immaculate taste in handbags (she got me hooked on Balenciaga) and for supporting my handbag lusts financially and mentally! You rock! ;-D

I will try to upload my first PS1 outfitpost next week.

Do you like the colour and model of the PS1?

OUTFITPOST – Blue skies

20 May

Dear readers,

We are finally getting the temperatures and weather we have been longing for this weekend!

It was a perfect timing as we wanted to visit a local airshow to check out the SpittFire and other big roaring machines most men usually like… Mine is no exception to this! :-D

Me personally? I was just happy that it is finally time to take those poor neglected summer shoes out of the box again, yay !

By consequence it was also time to choose a nailpolish for my feet as they were about to feel the breeze again after waaaaaay too long. YSL Les Fauves came to the rescue! Just love it how the gold base nailpolish shimmers through the black texture coat on top of it… Pure magic! This YSL nailpolish is also an excellent combination with my black suede Pedro Garcia sandals with little gemstones, as the footbed is also in gold which enhances the textured black/gold effect.

Since I was not sure the weather would stay as good for the entire day, I opted for a ‘safe’ royal blue skinny jeans from ONLY, these babies have been mine already for more tha 4 years but they still do the trick!

The top with sparkly padded shoulders is from H&M ( the yellow leather bag is H&M too), the owl ecklace I scored at Mango. My blue studded belt is from Talking French at Maasmechelen Village. The printed scarf is from Pieces.

What are you wearing on this beautiful day?

With love, Nona

First exclusive photos of Anna Dello Russo’s collection for H&M!

9 May

A few days ago we told you the news about the fall collection that fashionista Anna Dello Russo is designing for H&M and now we can show you two exclusive photos already! We see gold, we see turquoise and we see quite a lot of bling-bling, but to be honest we were expecting something a bit more extravagant. Who knows, maybe they save the best for last? Would you buy (some of) these pieces? Love & light, Ninette

Comma hits Belgium

8 May

Dear readers,

Last week I was invited to the occial press opening of the first Belgian Comma store in Antwerp.

Store openings are most often the equivalent of good food, nice music and seeing co-bloggers and press people for a lovely chat. This was no exception: GREAT food, a live performance, free hair & make-up and the company of my sweet fellow bloggers!

I planned to stay only for an hour or so but in the end I was there for 3 full hours, as it was so much fun seeing everyone again after abeing absent a few months in the fashion circuit, due to hectic work schedules.

Comma is a part of a German fashion concern which also has S.Oliver in his portfolio. By consequence, they have created the Comma store as a part of the big renewed S.Oliver store on the Meir, they do have separate entrances but you can easily walk from one shop into the other part and therefore combine both collections in the dressing room.Comma is a bit more expensive than S.Olliver and for that reason maybe a bit more suited for the already working women ‘or bring a sponsor, that also works!).

Below some pictures of the new store, where we saw lots of bright (flower) prints, casual chino trousers and coloured blazers in fuchsia, orange, green and more! Me likey!

Ofcourse, no shop can officially be opened without me buying at least one (in this case : MORE) items from the new collections.

To see my loot, you’ll have to wait a few days, as the weather was not allowing any outfit posts for the last few days, BOE! But I promise, they will appear soon enough!

What do you think of the new shop?

Adress :

Comma
Meir 32-36
2000 Antwerp

Vans x Kenzo restyle the Era!

7 May

Dear readers,

Fashion brand Kenzo has participated in a new & very limited edition collab with sneaker brand Vans for Spring/Summer 2012.

After a previous succesfull collaboration with Hello Kitty (read all about it here) , Kenzo was the next one in line who’s been given the opportunity to restyle the timeless Era model from Vans to their own vision.

The skate sneaker has been pimped by Kenzo in happy colors like green, blue, white, red (as also seen on the catwalks for Spring/Summer 2012) and distinctive netprints.

In total there are 7 different colour combinations for men and women. My favorite pairs below.

The limited edition Era sneakers will be available from mid May 2012 at all Kenzo shops and the Kenzo website.
They’re also available in selected shops like Opening Ceremony, Colette  & Harvey Nichols. Prices range from 90 euro and up.

Which is your favorite pair?

And another one bites the dust: designer Christophe Coppens closes his company unexpectedly

6 May

Last Friday we received the news that Belgian designer and artist extraordinaire Christophe Coppens has decided to close his company because he couldn’t work anymore under the current circumstances. Greedy banks, overly careful buyers and an overdose of creativity that he couldn’t use in his work all played a role. We’re extremely upset about this news, as this brings us another step closer to a boring, cowardly beige world. We’re sure that Mr Coppens will come back- most probably as a contemporary artist and meanwhile we can only wish him the best of luck and bon courage. Poor Belgium indeed.

This is what Christophe Coppens wrote on his blog on May 4, 2012:

At the dawn of the opening of my first shop in Paris and a new capital injection in June, I have nevertheless decided to stop all my activities as a designer and to close my company.

Because it is enough. Because the price is too high and the goal no longer justify the means.

It all seems too much and at the same time too little.

It has always been difficult, all through my 21 years career as a designer, and difficult is ok. But the past years have been unbearable, and inhuman.

One becomes something you are not.

Nothing follows as expected.

Every part in the chain is having a rough time within this global crisis; banks no longer play their part as banks and factories can’t afford to take any risks which oblige them to requests 100% pre-payments from designers.

Pre-financing, in combination with instalment payments, and paying for the present is a combination mathematically impossible.

Wages are no longer payable in Belgium, producing quality products in limited quantities almost impossible.

Fashion buyers are obliged to play it safe; mostly by choosing the accessories of the same clothing designers they already carry in store. Safer to be sold and delivered on time.

Shops are looking for cheap products, gimmicks, or the hype of the moment.

None of those can be applied to my collections, regardless my faithfull customers.

It is a vicious circle I can’t find my way out of.

And when it comes to the product itself; my ideas are today way bigger than the end result where they are suppossed to fit in.

Since many years it has been only about restraint, cut, omission, reducing, beeing carefull.

My lifelong dilemma between fashion and art seems impossible to  reconcile with reality today.

I have almost lost who I am, always between what needs to be done and what is right to do.

What remains is very little, and most of all, I work restrained to 1% of my talent.

And this is no longer the life I want to live.

Today I’m taking a very hard decision, in the first place towards those who kept believing in me through the years, my faithfull staff members, my suppliers, my customers, my shareholders…the consequences are hard on every level, this will be a total deconstruction.

Thank you for your support the past 21 years- CC

Naf Naf Brussels : Cocktail time !

6 May

Dear readers,

It seems to me that  many  highstreet brands have been giving their existing (Belgian) shops a well deserved make-over in the last few months, a new trend perhaps as a response to the ongoing crisis?

Esprit re-opened their shop on the Meir in Antwerp according to their new concept, which makes the customer feel more relaxed, like they’re at home.

Diesel has also jumped on the bandwagon with the introduction of their renewed Diesel shop in Antwerp and now there’s also Naf Naf who decided to give all their shops a new make-over 1 by 1.

I showed you my purchases from Naf Naf already in a previous blogpost, but I still owe you some pictures from the new shop opening!

So, without any further delay, here is the report for the new Naf Naf shop at Rue Neuve!

To open the renewed shop at Rue Neuve in style, Naf Naf decided to organize a cocktailparty for the Belgian press and bloggers.

There were many fellow bloggers present (always fun!), lovely appetizers (macarons with goatcheese, anyone?) and good music from a DJ, so I can safely say that this was a very successfull opening party!

Below some atmosphere pictures, so you can judge for yourself!
